James P. Hines, Jr.
Born and raised in Florida, Jim Jr. received his undergraduate degree from Stetson University and his Juris Doctor of Law degree from Regent University.
Recognized every year since 2013 as a Top Rated Lawyer in Tampa Legal Leaders, Jim Jr. was co-chairperson for the Elder Law Section of the Hillsborough County Bar Association for two years, he was a member of the Board of Directors for the Sun City Center Area Chamber of Commerce from 1996 through 2012, and he is pro-bono counsel for the Sun City Center Guardianship Foundation. Jim Jr. was previously nominated for and chosen as a finalist for the prestigious Moral Courage Award, which recognizes outstanding citizens of Hillsborough County. He has been appointed to the American Red Cross Planned Giving Committee for Hillsborough County. Jim Jr. has obtained an AV Preeminent Martindale-Hubbell peer-review rating, which is the highest rating for both legal ability and ethics, and reflects a lawyer who “is recognized for the highest level of skill and integrity.”
Jim Jr. has had four professional articles published to date, “The Use of Special Needs Trusts by Tort Award Recipients,” The Hillsborough County Bar Association Lawyer, June, 1998; “Special Needs Trusts Are Now Available for Persons Over the Age of 65,” The Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers Journal, 1998; and “What is the Purpose of Designation of Healthcare Surrogates and Durable Powers of Attorney?” Pathways, a publication of LifePath Hospice and Palliative Care, Fall 2003, Vol. 1, Issue 3. He co-authored an article with his brother, Robert D. Hines, “Preparing An Estate Plan – What a Parent of a Special Needs Child Should Consider,” Bright Feats Magazine, Spring of 2008 Edition.
